Poker Blogging Software
So you’ve decided you want to start your own poker blog. Good for you! Obviously, you’ve got the most work (but also the most fun) yet to come – starting with a first dilemma: picking the blogging software you’ll be using for your poker blog.
There are multiple options available to you as a blogger, both self-hosted as free blog providers like blogspot, and all have their advantages and disadvantages. We’ll be zooming in on the two options we feel are best: a self-hosted Wordpress blog, or a free hosted blog at Blogspot.
Blogger
The biggest advantage of a Blogger/Blogspot hosted blog is its price: it’s free. There’s also no updating needed – the thing pretty much runs itself. That said, it does have quite a few limitations that should make you consider hosting your own Wordpress blog: limited control and limited ability to customize, slow to work with and the unability to add specific non-blogspot addon software. Overall, Google’s Blogger is good – but if you feel comfortable putting in a couple hours every couple months on keeping your wordpress installation running – I suggest going self-hosted!
Wordpress.org
Wordpress is great. By running your own instance of this popular web publishing software, you will be able to completely control and customize your blog’s functionality, from advertising to looks. You’ll have access to a big bunch of plugins, including special poker wordpress plugins to help you easily make it look like you’re a serious poker blogger.
You’ll need a domain name. You’ll need hosting. Expect to pay under $100 a year for a simple plan. Some hosts will even install and update your Wordpress software for this price tag. Not bad, aye!
We say: go Wordpress!
